Oakfield College

OakfieldOakfield is a vocational college for statemented Key Stage 4 students who are capable of learning to travel independently and accessing various work based learning opportunities, including work placements and other motivational opportunities, which may be external to the College.

At admission the priority is to map out a route that successfully allows the student to progress. It is necessary to look at any hopes and realistic ambitions the student has for the future and attempt to put in place those courses which could help achieve this. This process must take into account where the student is in terms of levels of disaffection and lack of motivation but is designed to 'draw them in' through the use of negotiation and individually tailored programmes.

Oakfield College is at the forefront in recognising the need for more individualised and therefore more personalised curriculum. This approach allows us to provide a student-led curriculum, which is both relevant and meaningful for all ages all abilities
and all preferred learning styles.

For our students, a personalised curriculum combines core subjects with more specialist choices where the student's individual needs are paramount. The wide variety of courses on offer considers key issues such as choice, academic levels, attendance, career aspirations and special educational needs.

Our key aim is to raise students' expectations and to therefore raise whole college achievement.
